Join us on Monday October 19th as we welcome Erik Strong of Kauai’s first and only rum distillery, Koloa Rum. Erik will be providing a presentation, as well as FREE rum tastings of this wonderful rum.
Kōloa Rum Company was founded in 2009 to create world-class Hawaiian Rum. They are the first and only licensed distillery on the Island of Kaua`i, where sugarcane production has been a traditional way of life. Their tasting room at the world famous Kilohana Plantation is a must stop for any visitor to the Garden Island.
Kōloa Rum is made from pure raw crystal sugar from Gay and Robinson, the last plantation to operate on the island, and it’s handcrafted and distilled in small batches in the company’s 1210-gallon, hand-hammered vintage copper pot still. They have won several medals over the years for their Silver, Gold and Dark Rum. They also produce a Spiced and a fantastic (natural) Coconut Rum!
Forbidden Island was the first bar in California to carry the brand, after I personally tasted it in Kauai and fell in love with it’s tasty smooth quality. Our menu cocktail, Beautiful Kauai, was specifically created to showcase this wonderful rum and we’re excited to have Erik in the house, to give us all more info on this superb Kauai export.
