The Bim Bam Boys are a San Francisco Bay Area American Roots music band comprised of industry veterans. Steve Merritt provides the vintage fret lines on his arch top guitar while Danny Santos slaps and thumps away on the upright bass adding to the musical mix with his smooth and powerful tenor vocals. Drummer Derek McDonald’s swinging rhythm is the perfect compliment to this small combo and the honking tenor saxophone and melodic clarinet of Tom Griesser round out the sound of The Bim Bam Boys from time to time.
In previous incarnations, these veterans have shared the stage with Willie Nelson, Social Distortion, Hank Williams III, and Big Sandy & His Fly-rite Boys to name a few. They’ve toured the U.S., toured Europe, played events at Pixar animation studios, and have recorded albums in San Francisco, CA and Austin, TX.
The Bim Bam Boys focus on a mixture of the Americana musical genres they love most. They cover tin pan alley era jazz, rhythm and blues, and early rock and roll tunes mixed with originals written by both Merritt and Santos with influences from artists such as Fats Waller, Django Reinhardt, Willie Dixon, B.B. King, Les Paul, Sam Cooke, and Buddy Holly.
